Overview
This policy describes how Meikyo (鳴響), developed by Brian Garcia, handles information when you use the app. Meikyo does not sell personal information, serve advertising, or track you across apps or websites. Telemetry is disabled in public TestFlight and App Store builds. Internal testing builds may include telemetry as described below.
Information stored on your device
Meikyo processes your local music files, embedded tags, artwork, playlists, favorites, recent-play dates, metadata edits, ignored file paths, settings, and cached remote-library information on your device. This information is used to provide the app’s music-library and playback features. Brian Garcia does not receive it.
Internal testing telemetry
Internal testing builds may send limited telemetry to Brian Garcia to diagnose crashes, performance problems, reliability issues, and feature behavior. Depending on the build and test configuration, this may include crash data, performance data, other diagnostic data, app-launch or feature-use events, and technical device or app version information.
Telemetry is used only for app functionality, quality, and development. It is not used for advertising, marketing, cross-app tracking, or sale to data brokers. Telemetry is disabled in public TestFlight builds and in the public App Store release. If that changes, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before the change applies to a public build.
User-configured music servers
You may connect Meikyo to a server you choose, including compatible Subsonic or OpenSubsonic services such as Navidrome, or a Meikyo-compatible manifest server. When you do, Meikyo communicates directly with that server to authenticate, load your catalog and playlists, stream music, download files, and perform actions you request.
Depending on your configuration, the server may receive your server address, username, authentication token or credentials, IP address, device network information, catalog requests, searches, playback or download requests, playlist changes, and related request metadata. The server operator—not Brian Garcia—controls its logging, retention, and use of this information. Consult the server operator’s privacy policy and settings.
User-chosen lyrics services
Meikyo does not provide or select a lyrics service automatically. If you choose to configure a compatible lyrics service, the app sends requests directly to the service you selected only when lyrics are requested.
What may be shared
- Song information needed to find lyrics, such as track title, artist, album, and duration.
- The search terms or identifiers used for a lyrics lookup.
- Your IP address and standard network-request information, which are normally visible to any internet service.
- An API key, account identifier, or authentication credential if the provider requires one.
Who controls the information
The lyrics provider may log, retain, link, or otherwise process this information under its own terms and privacy policy. Brian Garcia does not control a provider selected by you and does not receive the lyric request or response. Before enabling a provider, review its privacy policy and confirm that you are comfortable with its practices. You can stop future sharing by disabling or removing the provider in Meikyo.
MusicBrainz and Cover Art Archive
When you use metadata or artwork lookup features, Meikyo may send song, album, and artist information to MusicBrainz and may request artwork from the Cover Art Archive. These services receive the lookup terms, your IP address, and standard network-request information. Requests are used to return metadata or artwork to the app. Their handling of information is governed by their respective privacy policies and service terms.
Retention, security, and your choices
Information maintained by Meikyo remains on your device until you edit it, remove it, clear app data, or delete the app. Information sent to a user-configured server or external provider is retained according to that service’s policies. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so use trusted services and HTTPS endpoints.
You can avoid external sharing by using only local music, leaving remote services unconfigured, and not invoking metadata, artwork, or lyric lookups. You may also remove configured services at any time. Because Brian Garcia does not operate those services or receive their data, requests concerning information retained by them must be directed to the relevant service operator.
Children’s privacy
Meikyo is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated service.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Meikyo’s features or privacy practices change. The effective date above will be revised when an updated policy is published.
