Switch between libraries

Meikyo keeps your on-device collection and remote catalog distinct, while giving both the same familiar browsing tools.

1. From the Local Library, tap “Streaming →” in the centered control at the top of the screen.
2. From the Streaming Library, tap “Local ←” to return to music stored on your device.
3. Use the view-options button to browse by artists, album artists, albums, songs, favorites, or recent plays.

Connect to a streaming server

Meikyo supports compatible Subsonic and OpenSubsonic servers such as Navidrome, plus the Meikyo-compatible manifest backend.

1. Open Settings, then expand Streaming Library.
2. Choose the correct Backend: Subsonic for Navidrome/Subsonic-compatible servers, or Resonance Manifest for the companion manifest server.
3. Enter the Server URL or Tailscale host. You can also scan a server-address QR code with the button beside the field.
4. Confirm the port, HTTPS setting, and API path. For most HTTPS Subsonic setups, leave the port blank and use /rest.
5. For Subsonic, enter your username and password. The password is stored in the iOS Keychain.
6. Tap Test Connection. When it succeeds, open the Streaming Library and refresh if the catalog does not appear immediately.

Add third-party lyrics support

Lyrics are optional. Meikyo connects only to the provider you choose and does not select one automatically.

1. Open Settings and expand the Lyrics or Lyrics Service section.
2. Enable third-party lyrics and choose a supported provider.
3. Enter the provider’s endpoint, API key, or account details when required, then save or test the connection.
4. Play a song, open Now Playing, and select Lyrics. Meikyo uses the track title, artist, album, and duration to find the best match.
5. If a match is wrong, use the lyrics search or refresh action and refine the song or artist information.

Access the visualizer

The visualizer is part of the Now Playing experience and responds while a track is playing.

1. Start a track, then tap the mini-player at the bottom of the screen to open Now Playing.
2. Tap the Visualizer or waveform control on the Now Playing screen. In builds that place it on the artwork, tap the artwork first to reveal the alternate view.
3. Use the on-screen controls to change the available visual style, or return to Now Playing with the Back control.

Small animated bars beside a track elsewhere in the app indicate the song that is currently playing; they are separate from the full visualizer.

Control playback and the queue

The mini-player handles the essentials; Now Playing gives you the complete set of controls.

Use favorites and playlists

Keep important tracks close without changing the music files themselves.

1. Tap the heart in Now Playing, or choose Add to Favorites from a song menu.
2. Open the library view options and select Favorites to see them together.
3. Use the playlist button in a library toolbar to create, rename, reorder, or delete playlists.
4. From a track or album menu, choose Add to Playlist. Subsonic server playlists are managed separately in the Streaming Library.

Add and refresh local music

You can import music through the iOS file picker or copy it into Meikyo’s shared folder from a Mac.

1. In the Local Library toolbar, tap Browse Files and select supported music files or folders.
2. For Finder sharing, connect the iPhone to your Mac, select it in Finder, open the Files section, and copy music into Meikyo’s shared music folder.
3. Return to Meikyo and use the local refresh/scan control. In Settings, Scan Shared Music Folder performs an explicit rescan.

Meikyo reads embedded metadata and artwork. If an album is grouped incorrectly, check its Artist, Album Artist, Album, disc, and track-number tags.
